Remade
There was about a meter and a half of usable lace and a dress that needed three. So the lace was cut apart at the motifs, spread out, and rejoined onto new tulle with the gaps deliberately opened up toward the hem.
Every join is worked by hand, over and under, so the pattern crosses the seam and the seam disappears. This is the slowest work I do and the only kind where I lose track of the hours.
Her grandmother came to the third fitting and found the piece of lace she remembered from her own sleeve, now sitting at the shoulder.
