The ceremony wanted covered shoulders and the evening did not, and a cape is a more graceful answer to that than a jacket nobody likes.
It hangs from two covered hooks at the shoulder onto worked thread bars, so it lifts off in about four seconds without anybody kneeling behind her. The georgette is light enough to move in wind, which a courtyard in June guarantees.
Underneath is the plainest dress on this page, and that is deliberate: the cape is the event.
